Funding for Savitribai Phule Memorial School – Bahuarwa Foundation, Bihar

Bahuarwa Foundation

Savitribai Phule Memorial school is a free school for some of the most marginalized children in Bahuarwa village in Darbhanga district, Bihar. This school is essential to the Bahuarwa village as a government primary school and hospital exist here, but have not been operational in many years. This school fills an enormous gap to ensure kids attend and stay in school.

Bahuarwa Foundation and its work relies almost solely on crowdfunded donations and contributions from the local community within the village to continue the Savitribai Phule Memorial School. While it has been able to come this far with such support alone, the pace of such funding is often not on par with the urgency of the children’s needs. Current annual operations costs are INR/Rs. 9 lakhs/USD $10,800, inclusive of teachers’ remuneration, infrastructure, admin and maintenance.

Total cost for this campaign is Rs 9 lakhs. And the funding breakdown is:- 1) 8 teachers – 64,000 per month (Rs 7,68,000 per annum) ; 2) Administrative Essentials – Rs.10,000 per year; 3) School Runs on Green Energy/Maintenance – Rs. 6,000/year; 4) Books – Rs 50,000/year, 5) Internet – Rs 6,000/year; 6) Cleaning and Maintenance – Rs.5,000/month (60,000 per annum)
