Asha-Jyothi is now certifying organization for President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA).

Volunteers are core strength of Asha-Jyothi, helping it to deliver mission objectives. The volunteer range from students fulfilling community service, to volunteers passionate about charity and serving to raise funds, and managing operations in various capacities. Asha-Jyothi is appreciate of time volunteers commit and serve. To foster the culture of volunteerism, Asha-Jyothi has taken step to become empowered to issue PVSA.

Thanks to efforts of New Jersey based volunteers, Pranav Sinha, and Seema Roy, Asha-Jyothi is now approved to issue PVSA to eligible volunteers. The service award is a celebration of accomplishment of volunteerism. Being the top award with Presidential seal, it sets the volunteers in elite standing. The award is issued on completion of targeted hours of service a 12-month period, in different tiers, such as bronze, silver, and Gold.

The Asha-Jyothi volunteers are encouraged to utilize the hours of service with forthcoming annual 5k events, and other activities throughout the year. The designated contact/race director for Asha-Jyothi chapter will help with validating and recording the hours of service. Besides volunteer service as part of Asha-Jyothi, the volunteers may request recognition for service hours they spend in other eligible contexts. Asha-Jyothi will aggregate those service hours also, provided they are satisfactorily verifiable.

The PVSA program is open only to US citizens, or lawfully admitted permanent residents. Volunteers who are interested in participating in this program are advised to contact the director of Asha-Jyothi chapter in each city where it conducts its 5K run.
